Location: Switzerland
Application: Residential Solar Energy Storage
Solution: AC-Coupled All-in-One ESS
Product: BST PBS-SG-AC5.0/2.5
A residential customer in Switzerland was looking for a flexible energy storage solution to make better use of their existing solar power and increase household energy independence.
Instead of installing separate battery and inverter equipment, the customer selected BST's PBS-SG-AC AC-Coupled All-in-One Energy Storage System.
The system integrates the LiFePO₄ battery, energy conversion system and intelligent energy management functions into one compact unit, providing a simplified solution for residential solar storage and backup power.
The customer wanted to:
· Increase solar self-consumption
· Store excess solar energy for later use
· Reduce dependence on grid electricity
· Add backup power for essential household loads
· Keep the existing residential PV system
· Avoid a complicated multi-device storage installation
For this type of residential application, an AC-coupled architecture allows the storage system to work alongside the existing PV installation without replacing the original PV inverter.
BST supplied the PBS-SG-AC5.0/2.5 AC-Coupled All-in-One Energy Storage System.
The unit combines:
5kWh LiFePO₄ Battery
↓
Integrated AC Energy Conversion
↓
Intelligent Energy Management
↓
Grid Connection + Backup Output
With 5kWh of LiFePO₄ storage and 2.5kW rated AC output, the system can store surplus energy and discharge it according to household demand.
The backup output provides up to 3.5kW peak power for 10 seconds, with a transfer time of less than 10 ms.
The all-in-one design also helps reduce the number of separate components required for installation, making the overall residential energy storage system cleaner and easier to manage.
The Swiss installation can utilize BST's intelligent energy management functions to optimize charging and discharging according to:
· Solar generation
· Household electricity consumption
· Grid electricity prices
· Backup power requirements
The system is also dynamic-tariff ready, allowing stored energy to be used more strategically when electricity prices are higher.
As the household's energy requirements grow, the system can be expanded through parallel connection, with up to six units supported. This allows the homeowner to increase both available storage and power capacity without changing the basic system architecture.
With BST's AC-Coupled All-in-One Energy Storage System, the Swiss homeowner gained a more integrated way to manage solar energy at home.
The project demonstrates how a single integrated unit can combine energy storage, AC power conversion, intelligent energy management and backup power into one residential energy solution.
